First ever GEM training held in Bangladesh
We have completed the first ever GEM training in Bangladesh during 13-14 February, 2010 by D.Net. It was a learning experience for all of us as we were doing it for the first time with institutions from Bangladesh. The two days event went well with very tight schedule and creating lots of expectations among participant.
The objective was to introduce GEM with practitioners in Bangladesh. That purpose was served perfectly. But getting detailed into it and more technical issues were remain untouched. However, the enthusiasm among participants showed us the possibility of engaging them on sustainable basis. Most of the participants showed their willingness to practice GEM not exactly how it formulated, rather integrating them into their own monitoring and evaluation system. This creates a new scope for Bangladesh. We had planned to apply GEM in some small projects of the participating organizations.
Another outcome is significant which is the participating organization. Most of the participants are from various types of networks. They expressed their willingness to continue this along with their network partners. This will create another opportunity to bring GEM into another level.
The participants are from BRAC, ICDDR,B, CIDA, Water Aid, Action Aid, CAMPE, Naripokho, Nagorik Uddog, Institute for Environment & Development, Humanity Watch Foundation etc. We are drafting a report and will be sharing those with you shortly.
